Deferral Program

Worried about getting hurt and not being able to run?

New this year is a deferral program. If you become injured or are unable to run, you’ll be able to defer your entry to the 2018 Modesto Marathon.

The deferral window will be open Feb. 22-March 7, 2017, for a $49 fee, for marathon and half marathon entries only.

Deferring your entry does not automatically enter you into the 2018 race. When early registration for the 2018 opens around June, a unique, single-use deferral code will be sent to all deferred registrants. Registrants are responsible for entering themselves.

Deferred entries are not transferable.

Virtual Run

For those of you who can’t make it to the event but still want to participate, we have the MOMA Virtual Run. You can run from your home.

You will receive a running jacket (full, half & relay), a technical shirt, medal and swag bag. They will be mailed to you within 2 weeks after the actual race.

An additional $10.00 fee applies to all virtual entries to cover shipping costs.

Curious what this last year’s shirts and other swag look like?

Registration F.A.Q.’s

Where is race day registration?

Race-day registration will be at the Information Booth inside of the Finish Line Festival near the Finish Line (N St., between 10th & 11th). Registration opens at 6:00am and closes at 6:45am sharp for the Full, Half & Relay. Registration closes at 7:00am sharp for the 5k.

Runners will receive a race bib, official timing, course aid and finish line food & drinks, but will not be guaranteed race swag.

Save time and money and avoid the crowds by pre-registering.

What is the cancellation policy?

All registrations are final and no refunds will be given.

Can I sell or give my registration to another person?

While online registration is open, you can go onto your account to transfer your entry to another person. You must find your own person to transfer your entry to.

At the Expo, there will be a $10 transfer fee. Pick up your bib and swag first – the person getting your entry will be allowed to change shirt sizes. Then go to the Race Day Registration/Solutions desk and have the new runner fill out a registration form. The registration desk will take it from there.

What if I want to change from one event to another?

You can go onto your account and change which race you want to participate in.

Do you have a Clydesdale/Athena category?

Yes, there will be Clydesdale and Athena divisions in both the full and half marathons. Top 3 male and female participants will be awarded. Sign up and weigh in at the Golden Valley Medical booth at the Expo. Clydesdale is for males weighing 200 pounds or more, and Athena for females 160 pounds or more.

Do you have a cut-off for the number of participants?

Do you have a military discount for the marathon?

No, we do not offer a military discount. We try to keep our prices reasonable so everyone can afford to run.

Is there a minimum age requirement for the half marathon?

Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I pick up my race packet and bib on the day of the race?

Yes, packet pick up on race day will be at 6:00am at the Information Booth inside of the Finish Line Festival near the Finish Line (N St., between 10th & 11th). Be sure to arrive early enough to give yourself plenty of time. Races will start promptly on time.

Will there be a packet pickup for the marathon before race day?

Yes, we encourage all runners to come to the EXPO to pick up their packet. The EXPO takes place the day before the race.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me if I can’t make it to the expo?

Yes, you can have someone else pick up your bib and packet at the EXPO. Please send them with a copy of your photo ID and a note signed by you authorizing that person pick up your packet.

Do you offer an option to have my bib mailed to me?

Offering a bib mailing service requires quite a lot of man hours. Because of this, we hadn’t implemented any mailing option. Bibs can be picked up at the EXPO or before the start of the race. You can also have someone else pick your bib up for you.
